Milestones

8 July 2010

The first milestone of SECOND CHANCE is the development of a SWOT Analysis for each site to identify their potentials. Based on the outcomes of the SWOT analysis and together with local stakeholders including investors, local and regional public authorities, residents, cultural professionals and interested groups, development visions and utilisation concepts for each site are drafted.

To sustainably awake the sites to new life, a close cooperation between public and private institutions is intended to help developing the sites through so-called public-private partnership (PPP) models. The elaboration of a PPP concept for the revitalisation of post-industrial sites will be the second milestone of SECOND CHANCE. The concept will give an overview of existing public-private partnership models successfully collaborating for the redevelopment of former mining sites. With the know-how of the transnational PPP concept and the input of local stakeholders, the project partners develop their site-specific PPP model to determine the implementation of PPP models on their site.

The third milestone is the implementation of investments based on the outcomes of the utilisation concepts, the input of local stakeholders and know-how gained by developing site-specific PPP models. The investment at each partner site paves the way to spur the cultural and creative revitalisation, to raise the attractiveness for investors and to develop new work- and living forms.
